"Green" weddings are one of the hottest trends for 2009. However, "environmentally-friendly" doesn't always mean cheap. If you're looking for an affordable way to get in on this trend, consider wearing your mother's (or another relative's) wedding gown.

Now, before you dismiss the idea completely because your mother's gown is totally out-of-date, keep in mind that there are a lot of extremely talented seamstresses who can work with you to "touch up" the gown by re-working it and adding modern touches that flatter your body. The pouffy-sleeved gown dripping in lace from 1980 may not be your style, but a good seamstress could transform it into a strapless number that takes your breath away. This actually helps to save money on your wedding gown, and it's a wonderful way to incorporate an intimate family touch into your wedding. It's also a great way to be earth-conscious on your wedding day!
